The Tánaiste, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence Micheál Martin has launched the Passport Service awareness campaign encouraging people to check their passport before making travel plans and to apply for their passport online, in plenty of time before they depart.
Passport Online is the quickest, easiest and least expensive way for people at home and abroad to apply for their passports, including new applications and first time applications for small children. In 2024, 92% of all passport applicants used the Passport Online system.
The ‘Don’t Be that Person’ campaign will use radio, digital and ‘out of home’ ads to encourage people to renew their passports at www.Ireland.ie/PassportOnline.
The Tánaiste said:
"I am delighted to launch the Passport Service information and awareness campaign encouraging the public to avail of our excellent passport online service. At this time of year, many families will be making plans to travel abroad in 2025, so checking your passport is in date should be top of any travel planning checklist.
"I would encourage anyone who is considering travel to check that their passport is in date, and if they need to renew their passport or apply for the first time, to use Passport Online. 99.9% of applicants all over the world can now apply online and I would encourage all citizens to use Passport Online when applying for your passport.”
